Welcome back to the Cooking Corner! In this edition of “The Art of Making”, we will learn how to make a dish from a somewhat recent phenomenon: the gourmet burger. Smoked Gouda Burgers to be more specific which happens to be a favorite of mine that I cannot wait to share.
“Roasted carrots” I’ll call them extra crispy thanks.
I’ll be upfront with everyone, this dish called for roasted carrots as a side… I roasted the carrots alright, they had it coming… quit being so orange you know what I’m saying! Besides that this dish was pretty straight forward without too many gotchas, just make sure that the timer is actually set for roasting the carrots.
Smoked Gouda Burgers are one of those recipes that I find myself trying to add to the rotation but keep myself from doing so because I’m worried that they would lose their charm if eaten more than three times year. In reality it is not so much the burger or the cheese that brings this dish together for me but the carmalized onions. Hot damn those things are tasty and easy to make!
Following Tia’s example.
The lesson that was a major take away was not writing recipes down but committing how to make them to memory. It not only keeps the same dishes fresh but also makes for passing it down to the next generation something so much more special. The video below is for reference only and exemplifies Tia’s lesson.
Ingredients:
- 10 oz Ground Beef
- 2 Potato Buns
- 3/4 lb Carrots (about 5 carrots)
- 1 Yellow Onion
- 2 oz Smoked Gouda Cheese
- 1 Tbsp Hot Sauce (optional)
- 2 Tbsps Mayo
- 2 Tbsps Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Honey
Happy cooking!
